Marilyn '78 and Henry (Don) Berns
Marilyn '78 and Henry (Don) Berns are thankful for the life they have led together, and credit the opportunity of a college education and their strong faith for impacting their quality of life. Originally from a small farming community in Nebraska, Don eventually earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering, while Marilyn returned to college after raising their children and graduated with a teaching degree from St. Ambrose University. They established a named scholarship for an education major as a personal legacy, and funded it through a charitable IRA rollover gift. Marilyn commented, "It gives us great joy to meet our scholarship recipient and know that we are helping them achieve the dream of a college education."
